Christian Marclay’s world-renowned work The Clock will be exhibited in the Arsenale. For the single-channel video work, the artist excerpted thousands of movie fragments that feature a clock or a character referring to the time and edited these together so that they flow in real time.

While ‘The Clock’ examines how time, plot and duration are depicted in cinema, the video is also a working timepiece that is synchronised to the local time zone. At any moment, the viewer can look at the work and use it to tell the time.

The Clock will be presented in a special 48-hour cycle, from 5pm 31 May – 5pm 2 June at the Ca’ Giustinian San Marco, 1364/A – 30124 Venice.
