2010 ECONOMIC STUDY OF ARTS AND CULTURAL ORGANIZATIONS IN NORTH TEXAS

Posted by: admin

The business council for the arts presented the 2010 study on the economic impact of arts and cultural organizations in North Texas and we went along to hear what they had to say. It was held at the Nasher sculpture center which we all love.

The study reported that nonprofits arts and cultural organizations in North Texas contributed more than $3.05 billion to the regions economy over the past three years, $1.06 billion in 2009, $995.3 million in 2008, and $998.2 million in 2007.

The room was filled with CEO’s and high ranking officials from major corporations such as AT&T and AA but no artists or anyone from the arts community…hmmmmm

Many questions were asked about corporate funding and the economic impact the arts have had in North Texas, but it was interesting that public art and the lack of it was not addressed.
